We are partnering with The Solar House Sdn. Bhd. (TSH), a Malaysian company specializing in providing comprehensive solar photovoltaic (PV) services, including consultancy, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of solar PV systems.

As an Assistant Manager, you will lead the technical engineering function, providing strategic oversight, process optimization, and technical consultation across all solar PV projects. Ensure the team delivers precise designs, verifies system performance, and implements best practices to support the company’s growth and technical excellence. This role will manage the technical engineering and drafting team, oversee project feasibility and design, and provide high-level technical guidance to both the Business Development and Project teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the technical engineering and drafting team to ensure high-quality outputs and adherence to project timelines.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, sub-contractors, and regulatory bodies (SEDA, ST, TNB).
  • Review and approve technical feasibility studies and system designs (Engineering, Construction, As-built) for accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify workflow or design issues and implement standardized improvements for the engineering department.
  • Oversee performance verification and testing & commissioning to ensure alignment with design simulations and client requirements.
  • Provide high-level technical consultation to the Business Development and Project teams for complex project configurations.
  • Drive adoption and training on new solar technologies and equipment.
  • Supervise and coach the technical engineering and drafting team.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and regulators to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Conduct site visits, audits, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and project handover materials.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers or draftsmen in design processes and software use.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate proactive leadership by identifying and resolving potential technical issues early.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Renewable Energy Engineering or related field.
  • Professional certifications in solar PV design/installation are an advantage (e.g. GCPV by SEDA Malaysia).
  • Preferred: GCPV Designer certification from SEDA; OGPV certification is a significant advantage.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in GCPV/OGPV design with electrical engineering experience in M&E consultancy or EPCC.
  • Proven leadership and supervision experience in technical engineering teams.
  • Expertise in CGPV and OGPV system design, feasibility studies, and system optimization.
  • Strong background in electrical engineering within M&E consultancy or EPCC projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software, PVsyst, and Google SketchUp.
  • Familiarity with electrical system simulation and renewable energy design tools.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with regulators, clients, and suppliers.
  • Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
