The Tax and Statutory Compliance Manager will own and manage all direct and indirect tax activities across Malaysia, ensure corporate statutory compliance, ensure statutory audit and accounting standard compliance and represent as Country Internal Control and Compliance Correspondent (ICCC).

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all relevant tax compliance.
  • Work closely with business units and sales team to determine the tax implications for transactions, with input from external tax consultants and authorities.
  • Maximize tax savings by optimizing deductions and guide business units to gather comprehensive information for tax returns.
  • Ensuring corporate statutory compliance by being the key liaison with appointed company secretary to ensure compliance to Malaysia corporate Act, Corporate Act Filling, Board Resolution and Resignation of Directors and any required filing with CCM.
  • Ensure adherence to Accounting Standards.
  • Leading the annual financial audit and draft the audited financial statements.
  • Work closely with regional internal control to support internal control and compliance programs.
  • Advice country team on the company‚Äôs internal control and compliance requirements.
  • Lead annual internal self-assessment and country risk review, or any risk assessments requested by regional internal control.
  • Report risk management, internal control and compliance incidents.
  • Assist and participate in implementing functional and operational projects (SST, e-Invoice etc.), business integration and other tasks as needed.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Professional Certification in Chartered Accountancy or an equivalent professional accountancy qualification (Qualified Accountant)
  • Certification in ICAEW / ACCA /MIA / CIMA / CPA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of working experience specializing in audit / taxation.
  • Strong knowledge in Malaysia tax requirements.
  • Proficient in English both written and verbal.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical and research skills.
