Our client is a dynamic and growing international logistics solutions company, who provides freight, logistics and express services with over 16000+ staffs strength in more than 150 locations.

As the National Ocean Freight Manager, you will be responsible for the P&L and ensuring operational excellence in ocean freight operations. This role involves implementing global strategies, managing carrier and supplier relationships, and optimizing financial performance. Key duties include supporting business development, overseeing product offerings, and ensuring compliance with regional policies. You will also supervise staff, maintain customer relations, and drive continuous improvement across operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Meetings, Assessment, and Reporting: Conduct regular meetings with country and local personnel to implement regional and global product strategies, assess branch-level product staff, compile and submit Monthly Management Reports (MMR), and conduct studies and surveys as required.
  • Operational Excellence and Best Practices: Liaise with the regional product management team to define and refine workflows, oversee operational excellence aligned with BP&O policy, ensure a robust space management program for trade lanes, maintain product schedules, and achieve yield and GP/unit targets.
  • Oversee Core Carrier Program compliance, procure the best buy, develop and manage strategic relationships with core carriers, benchmark performance against global standards, conduct regular service reviews with carriers/suppliers, and engage with Regional VPs on specific trade lanes.
  • Assist with budget preparation, monitor financial performance, ensure profitability, report financial issues, drive GP growth, support sales initiatives, develop account strategies, and manage pricing for Import and Export Departments.
  • Evaluate markets to ensure appropriate product offerings, support trade lane development, establish and enforce country and regional hub strategies, monitor and integrate co-load volumes, and ensure compliance with the company’s documentation and policies.
  • Oversee company representation, staff management, compliance, and operational control. Maintain carrier and customer relationships, mentor employees, monitor costs, and ensure effective communication and problem-solving across the region.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Over 10 years of experience in the Freight Forwarding & Ocean Freight industry, with at least 5 years in commercial roles involving pricing and global/regional tenders.
  • Strong understanding of management, leadership, budgets, project planning and management, with exposure to sales environment at a Corporate Customer level.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of government regulations and business concepts, with a focus on organizational profitability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skill and strong negotiation capabilities.
  • Proficient in preparing and manipulating spreadsheet price modelling data, creating PowerPoint presentations, and using reporting information systems.
